Before I picked up a camera, I studied biology and philosophy (which inspired the name of this site) at Stanford University. In 2007, I rediscovered photography while making and engineering sound for short films at the Expression College for the Digital Arts and began to pursue it seriously. I resumed my studies at Stanford in 2009, and will be graduating from in 2010-11 with a BA in Studio Art (Photography).
In 2008, I mounted a small show of a past series called Shops in a diner in San Francisco, where I live. I also participate in group shows with the university photography club and freelance for the Stanford Daily.
In Nov. 2009, I received an Art Department Material Grant to begin shooting a new project on water in the western US, as well as an ASSU Arts Grant to finish and exhibit the On the Air project.
I write the blog Shooting Wide Open and launched Printing Wide Open, for any photographers interested in exchanging prints with me.
